Marcel, Former intern, COMPUTER SCIENCE STUDENT

From intern to developer and trainer

Marcel joined PreHCM as a software development intern straight after completing his degree in computer science at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg – and stayed. Today he is a permanent member of the team. In addition to his work as a developer, Marcel also trains our apprentices and supervises our students.

How to get started with PreHCM

UNIVERSITIES IN BAVARIA

Study with in-depth practice

At a glance

  • Study programmes: Engineering, Computer Science (Software Design)
  • Duration: depending on the university; usually six theoretical semesters plus one practical semester
  • Paid employment
  • Degree: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering, depending on the degree programme
  • Prerequisite: University entrance qualification and enrolment at a university that offers the degree programme with in-depth practical experience
  • Contract can be concluded up to the start of the 4th semester

What's behind it

The degree programme with in-depth practical experience is a special form of study in Bavaria that enables full-time students not only to gain an insight into the practical side of things, but also to actively participate. Students can work at PreHCM for up to 52 weeks during their studies, both during the lecture-free period and during the practical semester. Ideally, you will write your Bachelor's thesis with us on a current issue within the framework of the project in which you are directly involved.

During your work, you will have a supervisor at your side who will support you in all matters and ensure that the content of your work is aligned with your study plan.
As an experienced team member, we will work with you to identify possible career paths with us after your studies.

UNIVERSITY, COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES

Working student job

At a glance

  • In conjunction with a degree course, preferably in engineering, computer science or a comparable course of study
  • Duration: up to 20 hours per week possible during the lecture period, more during the semester break by arrangement
  • The job can be taken up at any time during your studies and is designed for regular, long-term collaboration
  • Paid employment
  • Prerequisite: university entrance qualification and enrollment at a college or university for the entire period of employment

What's behind it

As a working student, you can regularly work with us for up to 20 weeks during the lecture period, and you can also extend this period during the semester break if you wish. You will receive a traditional salary, a working student contract and will be involved in our processes, i.e. you will actively work on one or more projects. The focus here is more on practical experience and direct collaboration in the team, which is why it may also be possible to work as a student trainee while studying in areas other than IT.

As with the work-study program, you will be assigned a supervisor who will support you in all matters. After your studies, we look forward to exploring entry and development opportunities with you at PreHCM.

UNIVERSITY, COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES

Term papers and theses

At a glance

  • Degree courses: engineering, computer science, similar degree courses
  • Integration into the course of studies, therefore enrollment and coordination of the task with the university required
  • Duration: depending on the university; usually 3-6 months or one semester
  • Selection of topics: Current calls for proposals from PreHCM or, after consultation, own proposals from a company-relevant area

What's behind it

We offer you the opportunity to write your thesis or term paper at PreHCM as part of your studies. You can either apply for one of the advertised topics or proactively propose your own topic from the field of telecommunications regulation management and radio spectrum. Together we will check whether your topic can be integrated into an existing project or whether there are current issues to which your proposal fits. During your student research project, you will be actively involved in the relevant project and focus on the central question of your thesis.

Depending on the progress of your studies and the type of student research project, you will be given more personal responsibility or more intensive support from your development team. Our aim is to give you the freedom you need to develop your results independently – with as much support as necessary, but as little as possible.
